Guest preacher is Michael Nailor, Postulant for Holy Orders, Diaconate, in The Episcopal Church. Mr. Nailor grew up in Mechanicsburg and was an English teacher for many years in Sunbury and Danville, a school librarian, and the Director of the Teacher Intern Program at Susquehanna University. Currently, he's studying at Lutheran Theological Seminary, Philadelphia and Temple University's Fox School of Business in Innovation in Digital Marketing. Michael says this about his focus for our service and his Adult Forum presentation to follow: Jesus said, “Let those who have eyes to see, see.” We move in an ambient sea of racial inequity in the US. My struggle, being born and raised in central Pennsylvania, has been to see that racial inequalities exist, not in the abstract, but in the particular in the lives of my sisters and my brothers - their grief and pain. And once I see the problem from my standpoint, I need to try to see it from the standpoint of persons of color. That, in turn, brings me back to so many things that I have been blind to. This path has been a work of spiritual healing – just like Jesus opened the eyes of the blind in so many of the healings of the Gospel. This ongoing healing has been an process over the last five years for me. I look forward to sharing some of the ways that I have become more open to the love of God in this process.
