Yin Yoga is a complementary yoga practice to the more active styles that are common in the West and is sometimes called “the other half of yoga.” This class consists of floor postures held passively for several minutes to create safe and therapeutic ‘stresses’ to the deep layers of connective tissue in the body.
Physically, Yin Yoga restores and maintains the natural mobility of the joints by creating space and length in areas of the body that can become "shrink wrapped" -especially common for those whose work or lifestyle don't allow for adequate movement. Yin Yoga enhances the body’s energetic flow and supports emotional equilibrium by emphasizing stillness and silence and is the perfect way to wind down and allow mind and body an opportunity to “reset”.
And one of the best things about Yin Yoga- it is accessible to EVERY BODY- from beginners to seasoned yogis! Props and modifications are used throughout class to help you gently relax into each posture.
Please bring a yoga mat, blanket and/or pillow and a yoga bolster if desired.
