Grant Awarded to Liverpool Borough for Sidewalks, Stambaugh Says

HARRISBURG – A $500,000 Multimodal Transportation Fund grant awarded today will be used by Liverpool Borough to boost community infrastructure through sidewalk replacement, according to Rep. Perry Stambaugh (R-Perry/Juniata).

The Commonwealth Financing Authority approved the funding through its program supporting handicapped accessibility and sidewalk revitalization.

“The project aims to repair and replace existing sidewalks along Front and Market streets and around the town square, addressing long-standing safety hazards and accessibility barriers. The endeavor could breathe new life into the borough’s downtown, generating a positive economic ripple effect as new businesses spring up and strengthen the region’s economic stability,” Stambaugh said.

“These infrastructure improvements will enhance downtown and improve the quality of life for those living and working in Liverpool,” Rothman said. “I am glad to see the project moving forward for the benefit of downtown residents and businesses.”

Liverpool Borough estimates the initiative will create 30 temporary construction jobs and stimulate the establishment of at least five new businesses.

Multimodal Transportation Fund grants may be used for the development, rehabilitation, and enhancement of streetscapes, lighting, sidewalk enhancements, pedestrian safety, connectivity of transportation assets, and transit-oriented development.
