Showcased Students Demonstrate Career Readiness

The Partnership for Career Development (PCD) announced the success of the Showcase Luncheon, held at the Conference Center at Central Penn College. The Luncheon, held on May 12, 2022 featured students at displays, and student speakers, describing their Career Exploration Experiences, as supported by their schools and PCD’s efforts.

The event featured keynote speakers from the PA Department of Education, PA Labor & Industry Apprenticeship & Training Office, and the ACE Mentoring Program awarded four scholarship recipients, prior to student speakers. Leaders from state agencies, businesses, associations, and schools attended.

The event was sponsored by the Manufacturers’ Association and the Next Generation Southcentral PA Manufacturing Partnership, HB McClure, the Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics, Members’ 1st FCU, Nu Paths, Brown, Schultz, Sheridan & Fritz (BSSF), and Triangle Tech.

The Showcase event brought business and education together to recognize some of the successes in the overarching goal of Career and Workforce Readiness. This event recognized and supported state level efforts of the Pennsylvania Department of Education, the Department of Labor & Industry, and the PA Department of Community and Economic Development for a “Career-Ready PA.” 

Featured students, in PCD serviced schools and districts, represented:  Big Spring High School, Boiling Springs High School, Camp Hill High School, Carlisle High School, Cumberland Valley High School, Dauphin County Technical School, Hershey High School, John Harris High School, Lower Dauphin School District, Middletown Area School District, Shippensburg Area School District, and Susquehanna High School,

PCD is a non-profit 501c-3 business-education partnership intermediary organization for Career and Workforce Readiness. PCD is solely dedicated to promoting, developing, and providing career exploration activities, programs, and initiatives that support career awareness, exploration and experiences in schools. PCD works to align the talent requirements of the workforce with students and educators in 8 South Central PA Counties, including: Dauphin, Cumberland, Perry, Lebanon, Franklin, Juniata, Adams, N. York, and Juniata.
